Journey Fatu doesn’t agree with the notion of calling The Bloodline “nepo babies,” and he recently explained why. The stable is built out of the lineage of the Anoa’i family and has a prominent position in WWE including Roman Reigns, The Usos, Jacob Fatu, Solo Sikoa, Nia Jax, Naomi, and the newly-arrived Zilla Fatu.

Journey Fatu was asked in an interview with MuscleMan Malcolm about people who consider the group to be among those who find success over others just based on their family name and connections. He disagreed, saying that they put the work in and that they have a passion for what they do. He also weighed in on the current WWE storyline where the 946 are at war with his family; you can see the highlights below:

On the Bloodline Being Considered ‘Nepo Babies’:

“Nepo babies are in every career, right? Any career that their fathers, uncles, great-grandfathers, aunties and uncles, cousins and whatnot — whatever they were good at, it was passed down, right? And then they just get a privilege. Listen here: not us, okay? Not the Fatus. And there might be — for shoot, I think there’s like over a hundred of us, and that’s just cousins. We’re not even counting aunties and uncles. But I tell you what, when we take it? We have passion, okay? We go to work. We don’t just take our last names, and we don’t coattail off anything. It’s not about that; it’s because we love this business. We’ve seen it in our fathers and our uncles, and we seen the work that they did. We’ve seen how much love and passion that they have for it, and we respect this business.

“So, nepo babies? I don’t know. I know it’s a term, and I know the term recently just been brought up since another family member of ours, Zilla, popped in. But it ain’t about that, man. It definitely ain’t about that. We go to work. Work horses, man, that’s what we’re about.”

On the 946 Attacking the Bloodline On WWE TV:

“You guys think setting my family’s car on fire is going to scare us? Come on, man. Before we were pro wrestlers, we were born Samoan. And when we were born Samoan, we grew up in not-so-good neighborhoods. Cars on fires, sirens, that was an everyday thing. Walking the parks and seeing people get mugged? Man, this is just what we grew up with. So, y’all trying to buff up on us, buff up on the Bloodline, trying to scare us? Keep trying, how about that?”
