Kay Lee Ray Reveals In-Ring Name Pitch WWE Rejected for ‘Alba Fyre,’ & Whether She Felt Frustrated With Lack of Singles Opportunities

Former WWE Superstar Kay Lee Ray, i.e., Alba Fyre, recently revealed an in-ring name she pitched to WWE before the company eventually decided to name her Alba Fyre. She also commented on whether she felt dissatisfied with the lack of singles opportunities during her stint.

During a recent conversation with The Daily Star, Kay Lee Ray revealed that she wanted to be named after the place she was born, i.e., Paisley. However, WWE rejected the pitch, as they wanted something “fire.”

Ray also opened up about her stint with the company, claiming that she did not feel frustrated with the lack of opportunities as a singles competitor. She said that she enjoyed her time tagging with Isla Dawn and later with The Secret Hervice.

On why WWE rejected her initially pitched in-ring name

“People from there might make fun of me for this, but Paisley was actually one that I suggested. I was born in Paisley. So, some sort of like Paisley Ray or something like that. So I kind of went with Kay Lee, but they were like, ‘No, you’re a badass. We need something fire.’”

On whether she was frustrated with the lack of singles opportunities in WWE

“No, again, I’ve been singles for a long time. So it was good to get into, like, some tag team stuff with Isla. We had a good feud as well. I think we worked really well together. Enjoyed the feud we had together, and then that came into the tag team stuff, and again, it’s just another character for me to play. I’m always going to try and do that to my best ability. Same with the Secret Hervice stuff. It wouldn’t have been my go-to, but I had a lot of fun doing that.”
