Kazuchika Okada vs. Tetsuya Naito Set for NJPW G1 Climax 33 Final This Weekend

– Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito are the finalists of this year’s G1 Climax 33 tournament. Okada and Naito won their respective semifinal bouts at today’s G1 Climax 33 Night 18 event to clinch their spots in the finals taking place later this weekend.
Okada defeated EVIL in the co-main event of today’s show to earn his slot in the finals. Meanwhile, Naito beat Will Ospreay in the main event to earn his finals slot.
Okada is the winner of the last two G1 Climax tournament. If he wins this weekend, he will be the first wrestler to win the G1 Climax tournament three years in a row. He’s thus far won the G1 on four separate occasions. If he wins, it will be his fifth tournament win overall. Naito has won the G1 Climax tournament twice in 2013 and 2017. This is his fourth time making it to the finals.
The Kazuchika Okada vs. Tetsuya Naito final will be held on Sunday, August 18 at Ryogoku, Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The winner of the match will earn a briefcase for a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at the next NJPW Wrestle Kingdom event early next year at the Tokyo Dome.
