Ken Anderson Reflects On Training Tiffany Stratton, COVID Cutting Her WWE Tryout Short

Ken Anderson trained Tiffany Stratton before she went to WWE, and he recently recalled what it was like to train the then-future WWE star. The former Mr. Kennedy previously spoke about training Stratton before she tried out for WWE and eventually signed with the company in late 2021.

Anderson spoke in an interview with Shane Douglas and went into a little more detail on how he came to train Stratton. He noted that Stratton was incredibly coachable and recalled how her first WWE tryout was cut short because of COVID lockdowns. You can see highlights below:

On How He Started Training Stratton and Her WWE Tryout:

“Tiffany Stratton is my one of my students. She started with us. Actually, she’s like personal family friends with Greg Gagne. And Greg reached out and said like, ‘Yeah, I’ve got this girl. I think she’s got a lot of potential. I can get her to try out with WWE,’ because he still has some stroke there. And he said, ‘Would you mind training her?’ So she came to my school for about 6 months and then Greg got her a try out with WWE.

“It’s funny. On the day that she went down for her try out, she said she cut a promo and then they came and said, ‘Guys, we’re stopping this. Everybody has to go home.’ [Because of] COVID. They just shut the country down for COVID. Literally right at that moment, they pulled the plug. And she went home, and she just continued to — we were shut down almost two years. We were shut down. But I had my ring in a barn somewhere, and she kept going up and she would practice. And then she went back and she did her try out and she killed it.”

On If It Was Obvious Stratton Was Going to Make It:

“Oh, yeah. Yes, but she didn’t have the the gift of gab, so to speak. Like, she was very athletic and very coachable. I could show her something, you know, ‘Do it this way’ And I could correct her one time and she would be like, ‘Oh yeah, I get it,’ and she would do it the right way. You know, like getting up the right way. The way we get up.”
