Kenny Omega Says He’s Been Working With Vertigo Since 2018
– In a recent chiropractic adjustment video with Dr. Beau Hightower that was filmed ahead of AEW Full Gear 2021, former AEW World champion Kenny Omega revealed that he’s actually been suffering and working with vertigo since 2018. As previously reported, Omega was also working with an injured shoulder, which had been giving him difficulty in lifting heavier weights.
Kenny Omega noted on his vertigo in the Hightower video (h/t Fightful), “Yeah, it’s been an issue since 2018. I just get really bad vertigo. I get dizzy in the ring. I can’t — the room spins. It’s been a new skill I’ve had to inherit is wrestling in a spinning ring. So to make sure I get that straightened out as much as I can, as often as I can is really paramount for my performances.”
The former world champion continued, “Yeah, there’s a myriad of issues with professional wrestling and you can work as safely as you can, But you can’t avoid everything. There’s always something that could go wrong.”
Additionally, Dave Meltzer reported on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that Omega will be checked out this Wednesday (Nov. 17) for all the various issues and nagging injuries he’s been dealing with. Later in the show, Meltzer stated that Omega had been medically cleared to work in the ring, despite his nagging injuries and vertigo.
At Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2021 event, Hangman Page defeated Kenny Omega in the main event to win the AEW World Championship. Omega had been champion since December of last year and held the title for 346 days.
