As previously reported, WWE Superstar Xavier Woods reportedly signed a new multi-year deal with WWE, which the wrestler later confirmed. Now, Fightful Select has a contract update on his New Day tag team partner and former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston.
According to Fightful Select’s report, Kingston re-signed with WWE earlier this year. WWE sources indicated to Fightful that they were of the belief that the 44-year-old former champion re-upped for a five-year contract with the promotion, which would keep Kofi Kingston under the WWE banner until 2030, when he would turn 49 years of age.
Fightful notes that Kingston as a former WWE Champion and all-time top tag team wrestler in WWE history is one of the most respected wrestlers in the WWE locker room. The New Day most recently held the WWE World Tag Team Titles, winning them from The War Raiders at WrestleMania 41. They lost the titles about 10 weeks later to The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh) on WWE Raw.
Kingston debuted in WWE in 2008 as part of the ECW brand. During his career, he’s been a WWE Champion, a multiple time Intercontinental and United States Champion, and Tag Team Champion. In July 2021, WWE ranked The New Day as the greatest tag team in WWE history.
