– As previously reported, former WWE Cruiserweight champion KUSHIDA is out at WWE after his contract apparently expired. Dave Meltzer reported more details on KUSHIDA’s exit, including what’s next for him, today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.
According to Meltzer, KUSHIDA’s exit was due to his three-year WWE contract expiring. Also, the belief behind-the-scenes in WWE is that KUSHIDA is expected to return to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) later this June. According to Meltzer, there was no interest in WWE to bring KUSHIDA to the main roster.
Despite advertising a match with Von Wagner on last week’s WWE NXT 2.0, Von Wagner instead beat up Jacket Time in the back. As a result, Ikemen Jiro took KUSHIDA’s place in the matchup on TV.
Previously, KUSHIDA wrestled in NJPW from 2010 until early 2019. WWE announced his signing in April of that year.
