A new report has some additional details on MLW’s status with Reelz channel following news suggesting that MLW Underground’s run there could conceivably be ending soon. As reported yesterday, a note in a Variety article about Reelz’ new deal to have a live feed on Peacock noted that MLW Underground would be “wrap[ping] up” after 10 weeks and that the network’s 10 PM timeslot will be available on Peacock after that, as MLW can’t air on Peacock due to WWE having exclusivity on the service. Reelz issued a statement yesterday which read:

“No decisions have been made by MLW or REELZ and we are both committed to a good outcome for MLW, its fans and REELZ.”

PWInsider reports that they have spoken with sources since the Variety article, and that the deal between Reelz and MLW wasn’t a 10 week deal and was open-ended deal with MLW episodes delivered on a weekly basis. Reelz has promoted MLW heavily and it would be unlikely that they invest that much in a short-term project, though it is not known how much Reelz’ deal with Peacock is worth and whether that has led the channel to have to push MLW aside in order to get a bigger audience watching them.

The site notes that Reelz’ statement “did not make anyone believe” that the network was standing firm with MLW. It is conceivable that Reelz could opt out of the deal or move MLW to a timeslot when the Peacock stream isn’t active, but the nothing that the show was intended to be a limited run is inaccurate.

Reelz still has the episodes internally listed for Tuesday at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT from next week through April 25th. That includes the upcoming War Chamber taping on April 18th and the upcoming Battle Riot V on April 25th. Classic episodes of MLW airing at 11 PM are also still scheduled as of now.
