Layla Diggs will not be competing for the NXT Women’s North American Championship in this week’s WWE NXT after all, as she is not cleared for the ring. Diggs was scheduled to face Zaria for the title on Tuesday’s show as a result of a #1 contenders match win on last week’s show. However, NXT General Manager Robert Stone posted in a video to his Twitter account announcing that Diggs has been pulled from the bout.
Stone began, “NXT General Manager Robert Stone here to deliver the unfortunate news that this past Saturday in Sebring, Florida at an NXT live event, Layla Diggs got injured. Therefore, her championship opportunity against Zaria for the North American Title isn’t able to happen this Tuesday.”
He continued, “However, I promised the NXT Universe a North American Championship match. And a North American Championship match they will get. I’m currently working on a replacement as we speak.”
No word on how long Layla Diggs will be out of action. WWE NXT airs tomorrow night live on The CW in the US and Netflix internationally. The updated card is:
* NXT Women’s North American Championship Match: Zaria vs. TBA.
* NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Varsity Project vs. Dorian Van Dux & Sean Legacy.
* NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contenders Match: Kali Armstrong vs. Lola Vice vs. Kelani Jordan.
* Naraku vs. Tate Wilder.
