Former WWE Superstar Layla El recently heaped high praise on Chelsea Green and also named other female wrestlers in the company whom she loves watching.
Layla, who was a part of WWE from 2006 to 2015, recently spoke to Denise Salcedo. During the conversation, Salcedo asked her if she keeps track of the WWE product these days.
The former Divas Champion said that while she doesn’t follow the product weekly, she tunes in during the WrestleMania season or when someone catches her eye. When Denise asked to name wrestlers who have caught her eye, Layla instantly named Chelsea Green, noting that the SmackDown Superstar reminds her of the bygone Divas Era.
She also named Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Rhea Ripley as the spearheads of women’s wrestling. Here’s what Layla said:
Layla El On Whether She Follows the Current WWE Product
“I don’t, honestly; I don’t do weekly, I’ll be honest with you, but I always, like, start watching around, like, the WrestleMania time because that’s my favorite. Especially when the Royal Rumble is coming up, stuff like that. That’s when I really start watching. But I still keep up to date with, like, social media these days because you get to see, like, you know, little clips, everything, stuff like that. So, I’m not such an avid, like, watcher, but I will tune in, especially if there’s someone who catches my eye.”
On the Women’s Wrestlers Who Have Caught Her Attention
:I love Chelsea Green, love her. She reminds me of the Diva era. You know, when you can just see someone willing to do anything for the business, she just goes out there and entertains. Charlotte Flair is phenomenal. Becky Lynch is phenomenal. Naomi… Even Rhea Ripley, she’s a flipping superstar. All of them. I’m in awe of all the women right now. I’m so happy for the evolution of women’s wrestling. I’m just a supporter and just happy to watch women’s wrestling, and in the next five, ten years, I just can’t wait to see it.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Layla admitted that WWE has set her up for life. Check her comment HERE.
