A judge has ruled that Shawn Chan, the man accused of stalking WWE star Liv Morgan, is not guilty by reason of insanity.

According to POST Wrestling, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida reached the decision during a hearing held on Monday. The proceeding lasted just over 30 minutes. Chan waived his right to a jury trial, leaving the verdict in the hands of Judge Mary S. Scriven.

Chan had been in custody for approximately one year leading up to the trial. Two psychologists who evaluated him concluded that he was unable to understand the wrongfulness of his actions due to the severity of his mental illness. Court proceedings also revealed that Chan had no prior history of mental health treatment and had not seen a physician in more than 20 years.

The case stems from an incident involving WWE star Liv Morgan in May 2025. According to the criminal complaint, Chan traveled from Scarborough, Ontario, to Orlando, Florida, on May 26, 2025. He reportedly told customs officials that he planned to stay at the WWE Performance Center. Four days later, investigators allege that Chan drove several hours to Morgan’s home, circled the property multiple times before entering through the backyard, and unsuccessfully attempted to access the front door.

The complaint further states that Chan remained near the residence for several hours before leaving a note containing his name, Canadian address, and phone number. He then left the area. Chan was arrested on June 3, 2025, at the WWE Performance Center after security personnel reportedly recognized him in surveillance footage from the earlier incident at Morgan’s home.

Additional proceedings regarding Chan’s future treatment and custody arrangements are expected following the court’s decision.
