A potential trial date has been set for the man accused of stalking Liv Morgan, though an insanity defense could delay it further. As previously reported, Shawn Chan’s trial on a charge of interstate domestic violence was originally scheduled for November but delayed to the January 2026 trial term. Chen was arrested in Florida in June after he traveled from Canada to Orlando and allegedly attempted to gain entry into Morgan’s home.

PWInsider reports that the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division has asked both the defense and prosecution to confirm by December 19th that a trial date of January 12th is acceptable to them. However, a status update from December 14th noted:

“The United States was informed that the Defendant Case anticipates filing a Rule 12.2(b) notice in the near future, which may result in the United States requesting a continuance.”

In other words, it seems potentially likely that Chan’s attorneys will be making an insanity defense. The outlet notes that if that happens, the trial could end up delayed further.

Chan was arrested and charged with interstate domestic violence after he came to Florida, where he claimed to customs agents in that he would be staying at the WWE Performance Center. He allegedly went to Morgan’s home on May 31st and attempted to gain entry. He was arrested at an NXT taping after WWE security recognized him and alerted authorities.

Chan faces up to five years imprisonment.
