WWE Superstar Matt Cardona shared an update earlier today, revealing he suffered an injury while wrestling last Friday (Aug. 21). According to Cardona, he suffered a torn triceps during his match, and the wrestler shared a photo of his swollen arm as a result of the injury.
Cardona wrote on his X account earlier this morning, “I wish my arm was this jacked. Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night. (I still went to the gym today and did legs) I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED.”
Cardona reportedly wrestled Kit Wilson in a WWE Main Event match that was taped before SmackDown on Friday (via F4WOnline.com), which is where the injury occurred. The injury comes after Cardona took part in a featured angle on the August 14 edition of SmackDown involving his real-life wife, Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green, and Gunther. This led to Cardona working a match against Gunther during the show, which Gunther won.
Depending on the severity of the tear, a partial triceps tear could take 8-12 weeks to heal. If Cardona undergoes surgery to repair the injury, it could take a significantly longer time to heal and recover.
The injury looks to be a major setback for the former WWE United States and Intercontinental Champion, since he made his official return to WWE earlier this year after signing a new contract with the company.
