Mick Foley says one of the things that stands out most about AEW is Tony Khan’s genuine passion for professional wrestling.
Foley’s comments come after becoming more involved with AEW. After making occasional appearances in WWE following his Hall of Fame career, Foley publicly criticized WWE for its relationship with US President Donald Trump and his administration while noting he would not be renewing his Legends contract. After his contract expired in June 2026, the Hardcore Legend appeared at Double or Nothing 2026 as the co-host for the buy-in show. After the show, Tony Khan officially announced that Foley has joined AEW.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Going Ringside, the WWE Hall of Famer reflected on his experiences with Khan and the Khan family, noting that Khan’s enthusiasm is evident whenever he is around the promotion. Without directly criticizing WWE or any other promotion, he said walking through the curtain at an AEW event feels different.
“Boy, it’s really fun for me just to watch how much Tony loves it. I mean, I’m not gonna knock the other organization, but let’s just say when you came through the curtain, it was a different type of experience. And, I love the idea that he loves it, and he makes it really clear that he loves what he’s doing.”
While Mick Foley is best known for his legendary WWE career and his unforgettable runs as Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love, he has continued making appearances across the wrestling industry since retiring as a full-time competitor.
