MJF On Slamming Carlos Silva Over Pulling TNA Talent From Indie Matches, Why He’s Eased Off

MJF didn’t hold back when slamming Carlos Silva over TNA talent being pulled from indie shows during WrestleMania week, but he says he’s eased off. As you may recall, the former AEW World Champion went in hard on Silva after the TNA president pulled TNA talent from indie matches with AEW talent. The situation was reportedly sparked by Silva being unhappy about AEW Collision airing opposite TNA Impact during the March Madness tournament.
MJF discussed the situation in his appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show. The Salt of the Earth outlined the matter to Helwani and explained why he was angry about Silva’s move, but said that he’s “pumped the brakes” because he’s been told Silva is learning the business. You can see the highlights below:
On Why Silva Did It:
“He was [lying], yes. The truth is, he didn’t want AEW talent to go against TNA talent, because he thought my boss intentionally put — I believe it was a Collision on the same night as TNA. Even though every single year when — I believe it’s the college basketball playoff, I’m not sure. I just know every single year, during a specific season of the year… we get pushed to Thursdays. He thought we intentionally asked Warner Brothers Discovery. We were preempted. And he didn’t know that. Because he didn’t know that he got offended, and then pulled a couple of matches off.”
On His Reaction to Silva Doing It:
“I was offended because now you’re taking — A, you’re taking a match away from me that I was looking forward to. I was looking forward to beating the s**t out of Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler. And B, you’re taking money out of people’s pockets. So I was a little upset.
“But I have been informed that this guy is getting smarter to the business. He’s fairly green, he’s fairly new, and he’s learning on the job. I’ve been told he’s a good guy. So I’ve pumped the brakes a little bit on old Carlos Silva. He’s learning on the job.”
