MJF is in Kevin Knight’s corner, with the former AEW World Champion having reportedly pushed for Knight to get his World Title shot at AEW Redemption. As noted, it was announced on last week’s AEW Dynamite that Knight, the TNT Champion, will challenge Omega at Sunday’s PPV for the latter’s AEW World Championship.
According to Fightful Select, MJF was a big creative force behind the notion of Knight challenging Omega at Redemption. The outlet cites sources as saying that MJF has long wanted whoever the TNT Champion was to challenge Omega after he won the title from MJF. The report notes that it didn’t specifically have to be Knight, but that MJF was in favor of Knight being that person as well as his joining the Don Callis Family.
Knight previously challenged MJF for the World Championship on the March 4th episode of AEW Dynamite. He won the TNT Title at AEW Dynasty, then turned heel and joined the Callis Family. MJF has been off TV since he lost the title to Omega at the Beach Break episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW Redemption takes place on July 26th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. It will air live on PPV.
