As previously reported, rap artist Quavo is set to perform at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event this weekend. Originally, WWE was reportedly planning to promote the show alongside a live concert with Lil Yachty, who is also an Atlanta native. However, WWE opted to jettison the idea due to feedback on the backstage segments from the previous edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event and wanting to put a greater emphasis on the in-ring product for this weekend’s show.
Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select has more details on Quavo’s musical performance. TKO officials were reportedly set on featuring a musical act at Sunday Night’s Main Event.
It’s said the idea was to have a musical performance “enhance the overall experience” for fans at the event, along with serving as an experiment for future musical performances at bigger WWE shows moving forward. The long-term vision reportedly includes something similar to halftime performances at major sporting events.
WWE and TKO reportedly want to use a musical spectacle that can become another attraction within the overall show, when the appropriate city and atmosphere align.
WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event takes place on Sunday, Sept. 6. The event is being held at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. It will stream live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
