PWInsider has more details on the shocking news of WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg, aka Brian James, exiting the company and his role as co-lead of creative for WWE SmackDown. PWInsider reported earlier that Road Dogg’s decision to leave was voluntary.
In the update, PWInsider reports that Road Dogg opted to quit WWE, and he did so in person earlier today (March 5). Per the report, WWE sources indicated that James openly expressed his unhappiness and offered his resignation from the creative team.
The report shuts down the notion that Road Dogg’s exit was part of a “creative readjustment” prompted by WWE. Instead, it was the opposite with the former WWE Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion wanting to quit of his own volition.
The timing appears somewhat ironic, as WWE also released information about meet and greets with Road Dogg next month at WWE World in Las Vegas during WrestleMania Week. PWInsider notes that when asked about James resigning from his creative role in WWE, sources reminded the outlet that James is still under a WWE Legends contract, which is separate from his employment contract with the company.
With that in mind, the report notes that it’s “entirely possible” that James will still make his scheduled dates at WWE World.
