It looks like the WWE creative team is undergoing some shifts, according to a new report by BodySlam+. Per the report, WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg, aka Brian James, has departed from the company.
The BodySlam+ has no other details about the reasoning behind Road Dogg’s exit. However, PWInsider, who is also reporting Road Dogg’s exit, notes that the WWE Hall of Famer voluntarily made the decision to leave the creative team.
Road Dogg became the new co-lead writer for WWE SmackDown about a year ago, alongside SmackDown writer John Swikata. Back in October, it was reported that SmackDown was making additions to its creative side to help make the show “more enjoyable” moving forward.
There are no details available on Road Dogg’s WWE exit. The former D-Generation X member and WWE Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion has been working behind the scenes for many years. He was previously released from WWE in early January 2022. However, he returned later in the year, taking up the role of Live Events SVP that was previously held by Jeff Jarrett.
Road Dogg had a stint as the head writer of SmackDown before. He resigned from that role in April 2019, transitioning to a role in NXT as a coach and producer for the developmental brand.
Additionally, Alexandra Williams recently announced that she was promoted to VP and Lead Writer for WWE Raw. It appears that WWE is in the midst of some shakeups in its creative team.
