More Backstage Details on Santos Escobar’s WWE Exit

Santos Escobar is on his way out of WWE. As reported earlier, Fightful Select reported that his current WWE deal is up “very soon” with the expectation being that he won’t be returning.

PWInsider has more details on Escobar’s exit. They report that his deal expires at the end of today, and that he would immediately be free to work for other promotions. They add that WWE did offer him a new, higher salary contract, but that he turned the deal down.

They add that AEW and CMLL would be interested in Escobar, while noting that another possibility for him would be to reunite with the former Elektra Lopez on the independent circuit.

Santos Escobar hasn’t wrestled for WWE since a Supershow in Mexico on July 27th, 2025 where he teamed with Angel and Berto in a loss to Mr. Iguana, Pagano & Psycho Clown.
