CMLL was reportedly well aware of Tessa Blanchard discussing her goals for her MLW debut that didn’t end up happening. As previously reported, MLW announced on September 1st that Blanchard had joined the company and she would make her debut at MLW Fightland 2026. CMLL, Blanchard’s home promotion, then a issued issued a statement clarifying that Blanchard was only set to appear at the one date for MLW and that “there is no deal between Tessa Blanchard, MLW, and CMLL besides this booking.”
CMLL later announced Blanchard for a show on the same day as the Fightland taping, and her MLW debut ultimately didn’t happen. Fightful Select reports that while CMLL appeared caught off guard by the matter, that should not have been the case. Blanchard had an interview with TMZ discussing her joining MLW and her goals in the company. According to the site, sources at TMZ said that CMLL representatives were on the interview call with Blanchard.
It was noted earlier this week that CMLL had reportedly only approved the one MLW date. It has still not been made entirely clear why the Fightland debut did not ultimately happen. Blanchard posted to Twitter last weekend, seemingly alluding to the situation, writing:
“Some things are just out of our hands… but my Mexico, I love y’all a whole damn lot. And this one never fails.”
Some things are just out of our hands… pero mi México, los quiero un chingo. 🇲🇽❤️🔥 Y este nunca falla. 💎
