New Details in Investigation Into Passing of PAC

A new report has some additional details on the investigation into the passing of PAC the day after AEW All Out. As you almost certainly know, the AEW star passed away on September 27th in Des Plaines, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago where All Out took place. It was reported a few days later that PAC (real name Benjamin Slattery) was found deceased at about 4 PM CT outside of a restaurant that was a short distance from O’Hare International Airport.
A passerby in a rental car saw him slumped over in a vehicle and called 911, and he was deceased when found. It was noted that no indications of foul play or trauma were seen, and it did not seem suspicious. He was 40 years old.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the cause of death will be released in a few weeks once the toxicology reports come in, which could take a matter of weeks to a few months. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to release preliminary results from the autopsy.
According to the report, someone who “who works closely with the office” but doesn’t have knowledge of PAC’s case specifically said that when additional tests are ordered, it can often indicate that the person didn’t die of a natural death like a stroke, an aneurysm, or a heart attack, as the initial autopsy would make all of these apparent. To be clear, this is not always the case, and given the high-profile nature of the case, it could be that they are being cautious. Again, the source did not have information about PAC’s passing specifically and was speaking on background in a general sense.
The WON goes on to report a few new details, saying that while officers were on the scene, a woman called PAC’s phone at 1:20 PM CT (two and a half hours before he was found). Police answered it and found out that PAC told the woman (who is unidentified) that he was stopping off at the restaurant to eat before going to O’Hare, as his flight back to Newcastle, England, had been delayed. It appears that he never got out of the car and had not previously complained of any issues, so something is likely to have happened after his last call to cause him to pass away.
It was noted that the GPS in his car was still active and pointed to O’Hare. PAC was not going to Andy “The Butcher” Williams’ public memorial, as he had already attended a private one and instead was flying home, with his flight set to depart at 3:30 PM CT. A search of the car and PAC’s person by police turned up nothing notable.
AEW announced PAC’s passing on Sunday evening and paid tribute to him on the September 30th episode of AEW Dynamite.
