New Level Say AEW Arrival Feels ‘Amazing,’ Talk New Team Name

The New Level has arrived in AEW, and Kofi and Austin Creed spoke about what it meant to come there while explaining the name change. The two debuted at AEW All In and won the Trios Championships with Swerve Strickland.

Creed and Kofi spoke about their arrival in AEW during the post-show media scrum. They said that the win felt “amazing” and talked about their new name. You can see highlights below:

On Arriving In AEW:

Kofi: “It feels amazing, you know what I mean? It is completely surreal, and I’ve been saying this all day. It feels like a dream. This crazy dream where all of these people that I’ve seen from a different world, from afar. And now I get to see them up close; we’re shaking hands, it’s all smiles.

“I see people from our past lives, you know what I’m saying? Seeing Renee up here, we’re sitting next to Tony Khan. This is crazy, with Swerve. There’s a picture going around online right now, the last time we were seen on screen together was what, 2021? And now here we are five years later, who would have thought that this would possible like this? It’s crazy. The feeling is surreal, to say the least.”

Creed: “Yeah, it’s — to echo Kofi’s sentiments, exactly. It’s a completely different universe. And there’s different ways of existing, and everyone is just so welcoming. You feel like — it’s the same thing as going to a new school, you know? You’re the kid, you’re like, ‘Oh, I don’t know if I’m gonna make friends or all this.’ Well, we walk in and everybody’s with open arms, and just like, so happy that we’re here. And it’s like, ‘Man!’ It feels like we did something right for our careers. Going through, because we just tried our best to be good to everybody, and try to be nice and try to be helpful. And so to see that come back in this moment, it feels amazing.”

Creed On the Name Change:

“Honestly, it works in every type of situation. We ourselves are on a new level as AEW. We are bringing a new level to the sport of professional wrestling. The song ‘New Level,’ obviously is called ‘New Level.’ It just makes perfect sense. How does the chant go? [Crowd chants ‘New Le-vel.’] So it all came into place. There’s no such thing as coincidence. So when we realized this, that was the direction that we had to go.”
