Nick Aldis on ‘Administrative Leave’ Following WWE Night of Champions Altercation With Gunther

Nick Aldis is temporarily on leave following his on-screen altercation with Gunther at WWE Night of Champions, as announced on Monday’s WWE Raw. It was announced on Monday’s show that the Smackdown General Manager is on administrative leave following his backstage scuffle with Gunther at the PLE.
As noted, the segment took place on the post-show after Sami Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship. Gunther approached Aldis backstage and yelled at him about being screwed over by Zayn’s addition to the match. Gunther said Aldis was “jealous” of him and the altercation turned briefly physical before it was broken up.
There was some question on the post-show of who put hands on who first, and It was noted on Raw that Adam Pearce will serve as GM of both brands as WWE officials review the incident. Gunther was also “sent home” after the incident, as noted by Michael Cole.
The hosts on the post-show teased that the incident could be “leading to something more.” Nick Aldis hasn’t wrestled since he came to WWE, though it has been said many times that he is not retired.
