Nick Khan recently addressed complaints from WWE fans on social media, stating that while the company does address legitimate complaints, it can’t cater to social media chatter all the time.
During a recent appearance on The Varsity, host John Ourand touched upon WWE fans complaining about aspects of not being able to watch the premium live events on ESPN Unlimited when the deal was launched last summer, as ESPN Unlimited wasn’t available through all providers.
Khan revealed that ESPN Unlimited is now available via YouTube TV and Comcast. He then addressed frequent complaints by WWE fans, stating that sports fans, in general, complain a lot, and that’s why Twitter was created in the first place.
Khan added that while the company does acknowledge legitimate issues that fans point out on social media, he asserted that companies can’t cater to online fans all the time. He then pointed to the incorrect predictions on social media regarding the Michigan Senate Primary results to explain his point further.
The WWE President added that one can’t be reactive and has to rely on their team, adding that in Triple H, WWE has the best creative head in all of pro wrestling, among other things. Here’s what Nick Khan said:
“Those complaints, some of them we look at and say, ‘There is some truth to this. Let’s make a little adjustment to this or that.’” But you cannot cater. For companies that read it, believe it, and react to it, it never ever works. Even if you see some of these companies that took some of these far right or far left positions, that’s not what most people are looking for. Most people are looking for left center, right center; they are looking for the same thing in the sports space. You can’t be reactive to that sort of thing. You have to rely on your team to know we have the best creative in terms of all of wrestling in Triple H, real name Paul Levesque, the best live events team, and the best merchandise and consumer products team.
“They’re able to monetize it. If you’ve seen the growth in TKO with UFC, WWE, on location, IMG, and PBR, each of these continues to grow every year. It’s not easy, but it’s not supposed to be easy. We have to continue to develop and redevelop what we do and make sure we have the right team in place to help make the right decision.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Nick Khan touched upon WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 43. Check his comments HERE.
