NJPW Announces That Over 31,000 Tickets Have Already Been Sold for Wrestle Kingdom 20

As previously reported, first-day ticket sales for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 in January 2026 were strong, reaching more than 20,000 tickets sold. During today’s press conference for the mega event, New Japan and company president Hiroshi Tanahashi shared an update on ticket sales, which have now surpassed 31,000 tickets sold.
Per NJPW (see below), “Just announced by President Hiroshi Tanahashi, THANK YOU to the 31,548 who have already bought tickets to the Tokyo Dome! Let’s sell out on January 4! #njpw #njwk20”
NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 at the Dome had an attendance of 24,107, dropping from 2024’s attendance of 27,422 people at Wrestle Kingdom 18. The Tokyo Dome has the capacity to hold 55,000 people.
The co-promotional event, Wrestle Dynasty, which was also held at the Tokyo Dome the night after Wrestle Kingdom 19, reached an announced attendance of 16,300 people. The event featured stars from across NJPW, ROH, AEW, and CMLL.
Wrestle Kingdom 20 will mark the highest attendance for Wrestle Kingdom since 2020’s two-night Wrestle Kingdom 14, which drew 40,008 people for Night 1 and 30,063 people for Night 2. That’s the last time ticket sales for the show reached more than 30,000.
For comparison, Wrestle Kingdom 13 in 2019, headlined by Kenny Omega vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, drew an announced attendance of 38,162 people. Wrestle Kingdom 12 in 2018 had an attendance of 34,995 people.

NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 Scheduled for January 4
This year’s Wrestle Kingdom 20 will feature two double title matches, with IWGP World Heavyweight Champ Konosuke Takeshita putting his title on the line against Global Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji. Additionally, IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri faces NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Saya Kamitani in another double title bout.
Longtime company Ace and former champion, Hiroshi Tanahashi, will also wrestle his retirement match at Wrestle Kingdom 20, formally ending his illustrious in-ring career.
NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 takes place at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan on January 4, 2026 and airs live on NJPW World. Here’s the updated lineup:
