Early ticket sales from NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 are very strong, according to a new report. Tickets want on sale for the 2026 iteration of Wrestle Kingdom on October 1st, and the WON reports that the first-day ticket sales were over 20,000.
The report notes that this is the largest first-day ticket sale number for an NJPW show at the Tokyo Dome since the 1990s, a much more popular time for wrestling in Japan. The ringside tickets available to people outside of Japan have already sold out at $750 each, and did so within 15 minutes.
Dave Meltzer notes that the interest in the show is due in large part of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement match and Aaron Wolf’s planned in-ring debut at the show. Wolf is a former Olympic gold medalist which is a bigger deal in Japan than it would be in the US, especially since Wolf’s gold medal was in judo at the 2021 Olympics, which were in Japan.
The show takes place on January 4th and will air on NJPW World.
