Does AEW have plans to have Will Ospreay compete in the Owen Hart Cup once he returns from his neck injury next year? Fightful Select Answers Q&A doesn’t seem to think that will be the case.
As previously reported, Ospreay was recently sidelined after suffering from herniated discs in his neck. He also recently underwent surgery to repair the issue, putting him out for the rest of 2025.
When asked on the Fightful Weekly Q&A Podcast if WWE might be willing to put off the tournament to wait for Ospreay to make his AEW return, Sean Ross Sapp doesn’t believe that will be the case. Sapp expressed doubt over Ospreay’s in-ring return window and speculated that AEW wouldn’t adjust its schedule to work with Ospreay’s likely availability once he’s good to go.
Additionally, Sapp also expressed doubt that booking Ospreay in a tournament right after returning from a neck injury was a good idea for the wrestler. He also noted that he hadn’t heard of any plans for Ospreay in the 2026 Owen Hart Tournament.
Hangman Page and Mercedes Mone were the winners of this year’s Owen Hart Cup, earning them world title shots in their respective divisions. Hangman went on to beat Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Title at All In Texas in July. Meanwhile, Mon lost her shot at the title at All In Texas against Toni Storm.
This year’s tournament finals were held at AEW Double or Nothing 2025 last May. It’s unknown when Will Ospreay will be able to return to the ring.
