Note On How Long Kenny Omega vs. MJF Has Been Planned

Kenny Omega will battle MJF in a what could be his last chance at the AEW World Championship, and a new report has details on how long it’s been in the works. As noted, Omega and MJF agreed to a World Championship match on next week’s Beach Blast episode of Dynamite. Omega agreed to MJF’s demand for a stipulation that if he loses the match, he can’t challenge for the AEW World Championship ever again.

According to Fightful Select, the plan for a World Championship match between the two has been in place for “well over” three months at least. The report does not mention if the plan has always been to have the stipulation attached.

However, it is noted that, much like F4W Online noted, the original long term plan was to have the match at AEW Redemption later this month as opposed to next week’s Dynamite.

Kenny Omega is fighting MJF under the same stipulation that Hangman Page fought MJF under at AEW Revolution. Page hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since he lost that match.
