WWE Smackdown is reportedly returning to two hours sooner rather than later, according to a new report. The Friday night WWE show went to three hours again starting in January. It appears as if the brand will follow what it did last year, as Bodyslam+ reports that the plan is to move the show back to two hours “in a few weeks.”
The report notes that this is a decision by USA Network and not WWE. USA Network will be airing exlcusive shows at 10 PM ET including the next season of Braun Strowman’s Everything on the Menu.
Smackdown returned to a two-hour format starting on July 4th. Bodyslam’s report suggests that the move back two the shorter timeframe is happening sooner than it did last year.
Neither WWE nor USA Network have confirmed the change as of now. Lats year’s move back to two hours was announced just a week beforehand, while the announcement of a three-hour return was made on December 12th, three weeks before the change was instituted on the January 2nd episode.
