Note On WWE Talents’ Compensation For Fanatics Memorabilia

A new report has a bit of detail on how and if WWE talent gets compensated for gear that Fanatics takes for memorabilia. Fanatics is WWE’s merchandising partner and will occasionally sell ring gear that was worn at events. It was asked in a Fightful Select Answers Q&A whether talent gets compensated when such items get taken, and the answer seems to vary.
According to the site, a number of talent were asked about this. One talent said that they have never been reimbursed for ring gear where another said that they were reimbursed for up to $1,500. It’s not clear what was different in the circumstances between those cases.
It was also noted, though this is likely obvious to most, that talent is allowed to use ring gear from WWE after they’ve left the company as long as it doesn’t have WWE-trademarked content and that they are not required to have such trademarked content (like ring names or the like) on their gear.
