Oba Femi says that he’s always been one to want blunt feedback, and that extends to his WWE career. The Ruler has established himself as one of the top names on WWE Raw in a short time and will face Bron Breakker in a battle of the new top stars at Sunday Night’s Main Event.

Femi weighed in on his success in an interview with ABC 33/40 and talked about being open to blunt feedback. He also said that it’s a matter of being in the right time and right place. You can see highlights below:

On Being Someone Who Is Open to Being Coached:

“Yeah. I’m Nigerian, so I’m very used to doing things and coming back and they’re like, ‘What was that? That was that was ugly,’ or ‘That wasn’t good.’ Nigerians are very blunt and straightforward. ‘You’re getting fat now, stop eating.’ It’s things like that. So that’s how I’ve always grown up.

“So I told Triple H, I said, ‘Listen, if I go out there and I mess up or it’s not up to par, and it’s not what you wanted it to be, let me know. And really let me know so I can know.”

On What’s Brought Him to This Level Of Success:

“I mean, who’s to say, right? I can only list off the attributes I have. I can say it’s because I’m hardworking; I can say it’s because I deserve it or I’m unique. But I would say a big part of it is time and place. Sometimes things just line up really good for you. Because like, what’s the guarantee that you’re truly the hardest working person in the room? There’s no guarantee that you deserve to be in the position you’re really in. There’s someone out there who is bigger, stronger, smarter, faster. They just didn’t get the opportunity. So, yes, attributes. Yes, I’m Oba Femi, I’m The Ruler. I’m great, I’m awesome. But time and place.”
