Oba Femi Dethrones Ricky Saints As NXT Champion At Deadline 2025

Oba Femi is the NEW WWE NXT Champion. The Ruler defeated Ricky Saints in the opening match of NXT Deadline 2025 to reclaim the title.

The finish of the match saw Femi bounce back after being hit by a couple of DDTs by Saints, including one onto the steel steps, to nail his signature Fall of Grace. Saint kicked out after the first one but was unable to do the same when the Nigerian nailed yet another to pick up the pinfall win. After a hard-fought match, Saints extended his hand toward Femi for a handshake, and the latter obliged.

Femi overpowered Saints with his sheer physical strength for the majority of the match, but Ricky, being a fighting champion, kept bouncing back. However, whatever offense he mounted proved to be inadequate to keep Oba down.

Oba Femi is now a two-time NXT Champion. His first reign lasted 263 days and was ended by Ricky Saints at No Mercy this past September. Saints’ reign ends at 71 days. He went on to have two successful televised defenses, both against Trick Williams. Thanks to his victory tonight, The Ruler will now face Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
