WWE Superstar Oba Femi shocked the pro wrestling world this past Monday night on RAW when he opted to forgo his world championship shot at SummerSlam 2026 in favor of facing Brock Lesnar again.

As noted previously, The Ruler vanquished Jey Uso in the final of the King of the Ring tournament at last weekend’s Night of Champions Premium Live Event to secure the coveted crown and the right to challenge a WWE World Champion at SummerSlam.

Femi kicked off this week’s RAW, and as he was about to make his decision for SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar showed up with his attorney, Paul Heyman. After noting what Femi called him behind his back, Lesnar lowblowed The Ruler and delivered an F-5. A wounded Femi responded by again calling Lesnar a “b**ch” and challenged him to a match at SummerSlam 2026. Lesnar not only accepted the challenge but also upped the stakes by demanding that the bout take place inside Hell in a Cell. Femi later told Adam Pearce that he was forgoing his world title opportunity at SummerSlam as he aims to finish Lesnar once and for all.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Dave Meltzer reported that Femi forgoing his world title opportunity in favor of a match with Brock Lesnar was always a planned direction and not a last-minute pivot. According to the report, sources claimed that the idea is to create a big match feel for the eventual Roman Reigns-Oba Femi showdown.

As it turned out, Seth Rollins challenged Reigns to a World Heavyweight Title match at SummerSlam, and the latter accepted it, making the high-profile showdown official for next month.
