Paige Reveals She Wasn’t The First Choice to Face Kelani Jordan on WWE NXT

As noted, inaugural NXT Women’s Champion Paige was revealed as the mystery opponent of current champion Kelani Jordan on last night’s WWE NXT. This was Paige’s first match on the developmental brand since 2014.

However, Paige revealed on Busted Open Radio that she wasn’t the original choice for Kelani’s mystery opponent. The English pro wrestler said that she was only informed about it at the SmackDown taping in Brooklyn on Monday.

Here’s what she said:

“I got called last minute. It wasn’t actually supposed to be me. Triple H pulled me aside in Brooklyn at the double taping and said, ‘Do you mind going down to NXT?’ I was like, ‘Oh, sh*t! Yeah, definitely!’ It didn’t give me much time to prepare. Maybe if I prepared a little bit more, I would’ve won. It is what it is. I know what to do next time if I get a little bit of time.”

Paige delivered a dominant performance, even hitting Jordan with Paige Turner at one point. Later, she countered Kelani’s One of a Kind Split Legged Moonsault and attempted to hit the RamPaige, only for the champ to roll her up and secure the pinfall.
