STARDOM 5STAR Grand Prix 2026 Night Seven
August 1st, 2026 | Sendai PIT in Sendai, Miyagi | Attendance: 480
I’ve got two G1 events and three for the Grand Prix from the weekend, so it’s shorter write-ups again. It’s all B Block action here.
Blue Stars B Block: Kikyo Furusawa [0] vs. Yuna Mizumori [0]
You know of know what you’re going to get with Yuna Mizumori. A quick pace, a lot of energy, and a fair bit of action. Kikyo continued to focus on trying to apply the ankle lock whenever she could, which also worked to try and slow Yuna down. They didn’t do anything to wow anyone but the stuff we got was consistently solid. Yuna escaped the ankle lock and Kikyo kicked out a Cradle Shock like move before Yuna won with a lariat in 7:59. A solid enough opener and nothing more. [**¾]
Blue Stars A Block: Miyu Amasaki [0] vs. Rian [0]
As one half of the tag team champions, I’m waiting for Miyu to break out a bit in this tournament. Rian looked good out there and is improving. The opening sequence of chain wrestling through wristlocks and such was well done and the crowd likes her. I actually really like her thing of stomping on her opponent’s feet. It’s a smart little gimmick that helps her stand out. Miyu has a VERY nice Exploder. She won with her sitout Pedigree (I need to learn the name of it) in 8:21. Better than I thought it would be. Blue Stars A Block: Hina [2] vs. Julia Hart [2]
Julia Hart’s first STARDOM match was kind of a nightmare. This was a bit better, though she still seems a couple of steps behind the STARDOM regulars. Hina came out aggressively and laid the shots into Julia, who responded with some basic heel stuff. Unfortunately, several spots came off awkwardly and didn’t click and Julia overshot the hell out of a moonsault. A ref bump led to a cheap shot with the title and Julia then won via submission in 8:04. Expected Hina to get a win back after dropping the trios titles to Triangle of Madness. Mediocre match. [**]
Blue Stars B Block: Koguma [4] vs. Saya Kamitani [1]
It’s a Koguma match, so of course there was fun to be had. Saya played into the taunt stuff, only to turn and attack her instead. Koguma still had fun swinging her around and putting her in a submission, complete with taunting. Of course, Saya got going and started hitting her signature stuff. I really liked the finish as she managed to kick out of an inside cradle and hold onto Koguma as she lifted her up for the Star Crusher to take this at the 7:24 mark. Just some good wrestling. [***]
Blue Stars A Block: Aya Sakura [2] vs. Ruaka [4]
The idea here is simple as Aya could play the underdog babyface while Ruaka was the stronger heel who is willing to do underhanded things. Ruaka was Ruaka but Aya is who stood out here. She was perfectly laying in her kicks while also showcasing a sense of desperation that I always appreciate in a tournament setting. You should badly want to win your matches. Ruaka’s offense feels too weak for it to really hit, though. Her strikes don’t have impact and seven her slams don’t do much, so Aya was trying to sell and bump for stuff that didn’t look good. Still, the overall match was solid and Aya won with a crucifix rollup in 9:59. A bit long for what they were going for. [**½]
Blue Stars A Block: HANAKO [2] vs. Suzu Suzuki [4]
As noted earlier in the tournament, Suzu Suzuki’s run is intriguing. She has to carry a lot of inexperienced girls. HANAKO is an interesting one because her size means she can’t really play the underdog despite being way lower on the card. Instead, they went with something like a hoss fight as the two were wailing on each other throughout. Suzu did just what she should in this block, which is make sure her opponent looks good without doing so at her own expense. HANAKO looked good when it came to overpowering Suzu at several moments. By the time Suzu won with the Tequila Shot in 11:06, she looked exhausted. I quite enjoyed that and it’s our match of the night to this point. [***¼]
Blue Stars B Block: Ami Sohrei [2] vs. Momo Watanabe [4]
A lot of STARDOM matches are worked at a wild pace and it’s often where the company shines. So when you get a much slower paced match, it stands out. That was the case here as they started with a test of strength and developed into something more hard hitting as time went on. It was Ami’s loud chops against Momo’s stiff kicks before they moved towards suplexes and bigger blows. After they hit the 10 minute mark, we got signature moves and close calls without ever overdoing it. In the end, Momo threw several suplexes and picked up the win with Peach Sunrise after 13:34. Much better than I thought it would be and one of the surprise standouts of the tournament to date. [***¾]
Blue Stars B Block: Hanan [4] vs. Starlight Kid [1]
Although both women are babyfaces, Starlight Kid wisely kind of took on the reins as something of a heel. She was the aggressor, working the leg relentlessly, which is always something she does well. That allowed Hanan to slip into her classic babyface role of fighting from beneath. I thought Hanan did a pretty great job of selling the leg damage. She was constantly reaching for it, limping, and doing some subtle stuff to make it look really good. She began her rally and the crowd was into it, especially once she started showing more fire. I think the match felt like it was building to something, only to kind of never take that next step toward something great. Hanan survived the Black Tiger Leg Killer several times before winning with her back suplex in 11:28. That was a very good main event that teased greatness but never got there. [***½]
