Pat McAfee Revealed As Randy Orton’s Mystery Caller On WWE Smackdown

Pat McAfee has returned to WWE TV, revealing himself as the man who has been calling Randy Orton on this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown. Friday night’s show opened with a segment in which the former WWE commentator returned to TV, helping Orton take out Rhodes and revealing that he’s the man who has been calling Orton and dispensing advice.

As noted, Orton has been receiving advice from someone on the phone since he turned heel on Rhodes following Elimination Chamber. Orton came down to the ring to open this week’s show and spoke about being in his hometown, and how next time he’s there he’ll have won the Undisputed WWE Championship. He said he was doing this for his family and real home — not the St. Louis fans — and that Rhodes gave him the blessing to listen to the voices and be The Viper. Orton said that Rhodes couldn’t beat him because he’s not a killer.

Rhodes came down to the ring and started brawling with Orton before McAfee came down and low blow kicked Rhodes. He and Orton teamed up to beat Rhodes down and McAfee got on the mic and said that the wrestling business, which he loved, was dying and that Orton had called him and said that it didn’t pass him by, but had gone in a direction they didn’t like. McAfee said WWE had left the Attitude Era fans behind, took shots at WWE’s product and said that there’s no reason WrestleMania tickets should be available and Smackdown’s ratings should be bad when Orton was around. He told Orton that he had to kill everything and save the business.

McAfee has been off WWE for some time. It was reported in January that he was expected to return soon.
