Rey Fenix Defeats Laredo Kid to Capture AAA World Cruiserweight Title at Noche de Los Grandes 2026

Rey Fenix ended Laredo Kid’s lengthy reign as the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion in an instant classic at tonight’s Noche de Los Grandes.

The back-and-forth match that saw both wrestlers trade near falls finally came to a head when Laredo Kid lowblowed Fenix behind the referee’s back. Laredo followed it up with a Frog Splash, but Fenix refused to give up.

Ultimately, the turnbuckle that Kid had exposed earlier in the match led to his undoing, as he went face-first into the exposed steel. Fenix followed it up with his second Mexican Muscle Buster for the match to secure the pinfall and the title.

After the match, Fenix had an emotional moment with his family at ringside. Fenix is now a two-time AAA World Cruiserweight Champion. He previously held the title for 394 days, from June 2022 to July 2023. Laredo Kid’s reign ends at 539 days. He captured the title from Matt Riddle at AAA Cierre De La Gira Orígenes in December 2024.
