Ric Flair has clarified his contract status, saying that he is not “back in” with WWE and is still under an AEW contract. It was reported late last week that Flair had said he was “back in” with WWE on Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast and that he would be at the Royal Rumble in February, noting, “Me and Hunter hugged. We made up. I’m back in.”

However, as it turns out, that episode was a compilation video (though the description said nothing about such) and Flair’s comments were actually from a 2023 episode. Flair posted to his Twitter account to clarify his status, noting that he’s not back with WWE and remains under AEW contract.

He wrote:

“I am seeing all the rumors online about me being back with @WWE. Number one, it is disrespectful. Number two, it is not true. I have always been friends with Hunter. Nothing has changed with our friendship. We both have mutual respect for each other. My daughter @MsCharlotteWWE works for WWE, And I cheer her on in the company. I am unable to work for WWE because i work for @AEW and @TonyKhan. I am very loyal to him as he allows me the freedom to pursue all of my business ventures and opportunities like @FlairSpirits, all of my signings, @WOOOOOEnergy, and @NASCAR. Tony and I are personal friends, and he grew up watching me. I would never ever disrespect him. Please stop with the online rumors. I am happy where I am in my life.”

Flair has been with AEW since late 2023, though he has not appeared on AEW TV since the lead-up to Sting’s retirement at AEW Revolution 2024.
