Ric Flair has commented on Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat’s recent appearance on AEW television, noting that he “loved” seeing his longtime rival featured on the broadcast. Flair discussed the segment in a new interview with Casino Beats, where he also explained that he had hoped to take part in the appearance.

On November 12, Steamboat returned to AEW Blood and Guts and tried to tell a story about how he and Flair met in 1977. However, before he could finish, FTR attacked him.

Speaking to Casino Beats, Flair stated that he would have loved to share the screen with Steamboat during the AEW segment. However, a shoulder injury prevented him from participating, and he confirmed that it limited his involvement at the time. Flair added that he continues to stay in contact with Steamboat and makes an effort to visit him when possible. He also said that Steamboat and Shawn Michaels are, in his view, “the two best baby faces ever of all time,” and reiterated that “nobody comes close.” Flair has consistently referenced both performers when discussing the most notable babyfaces in the industry’s history.

“I just loved it. I wish that I had been able to do something with Ricky, but my shoulder didn’t allow it. But I try to see him as much as I can. Him and Shawn Michaels are the two best babyfaces ever of all time. Nobody comes close.”

As both men now make only occasional appearances on wrestling programming, their statements continue to generate interest among longtime fans and newer audiences who follow their work through WWE, AEW, and archival content.
