Ronda Rousey has confirmed that her wrestling career is pretty much behind her at this point. The UFC and WWE alumna made the statement in an appearance on the Lapsed Fan Podcast where she was talking about her new graphic novel Expect The Unexpected. During the conversation, she was asked about her time in WWE and said that her pro wrestling career is essentially over.
When asked if wrestling was in her “rearview mirror,” Rousey said, “I mean — pretty much, I’d say so.” She also talked about how she got into WWE and wanted to face the other members of the MMA Four Horsewomen.
“I got into WWE because I wanted to to be able to wrestle my girls, you know, the Four Horsewomen, and be able to wrestle my friends. And they kind of dangled that carrot for my whole run and never let it happen. And then the second run, they kept dangling it. And then by the end I was like, ‘I’m f**king leaving unless I can wrestle Shayna [Baszler]. And that’s how I was able to do it at all. And now nobody even works there anymore.”
Rousey last competed at SummerSlam 2023, losing an MMA Rules bout to Baszler. Baszler was the last of the Four Horsewomen of MMA (Rousey, Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke) to exit WWE, leaving earlier this year.
