Rumor Killer On Santos Escobar’s WWE Status

Some speculation flew about Santos Escobar after fans noticed him in the WWE alumni section, but a new report is shooting down said rumors. Escobar is currently showing on the alumni section of WWE.com. That led to some outlets running with reports alleging he was “quietly moved” there. However, Fightful Select reports that this is not the case.

According to Fightful, Escobar has been on in the alumni section since his WWE contract briefly expired in October. He re-signed with the company a couple of days later, but he was not moved back to the active roster section. The site says that they confirmed last week with WWE that he’s still with them.

Escobar competed at AAA Rey De Reyes this weekend in the finals of the titular tournament, which El Grande Americano II ultimately won. The original El Grande Americano and La Parka were also part of the match, which saw Escobar attacked by someone in a Hijo del Fantasma mask. It was noted that one AAA talent called Escobar’s performance “lethargic” and there has been no word regarding anything that specifically contributed to such.

The report notes that they had heard in recent weeks that Escobar wished he was used better. He is expected to continue working in AAA, and Bodyslam+ notes that he is expected to continue his program, with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. for the AAA Latin American Championship.
