WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam (RVD) has reacted to John Cena tapping out to Gunther in his farewell bout last weekend. RVD was in the house to attend his former rival’s retirement match. The two shared a moment before Cena went to work for one final time.
In a recent interaction with TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast, the former WWE Champion was asked to reveal his initial reaction when John Cena gave up. RVD said that he wasn’t really surprised, as he saw it coming. However, he was disappointed that the match ended too early to his liking, as he wanted it to go for 20 more minutes.
“I expected it, I guess. I was just kinda bummed that it was over and so final at the moment; there’s no going back. They rang the bell; that match is over. It’s just like, you know, it’s coming, but it doesn’t make that moment any more enjoyable or whatever. I kind of was disappointed just ’cause I would’ve liked it to go another 20 minutes; I was having fun. Otherwise, I kind of expected that to happen,” RVD said.
