Santos Escobar is back on television screens. The Mexican pro wrestler appeared on tonight’s landmark episode of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
Donning the mask of his father, El Fantasma, the former SmackDown Superstar returned to confront reigning AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
He shook Wagner’s hands and said something in his ear before knocking the champion down. Escobar then grabbed the championship belt and placed it on his shoulder before revealing his face.
For those unaware, Santos Escobar initially departed WWE following the expiration of his contract last October. According to reports, Escobar was offered a lucrative deal by the promotion after it allegedly acknowledged the wrestler’s demand to have creative plans in place for him. However, he has yet to appear on WWE television.
Now, it seems like Escobar is on a collision course with Dr. Wagner Jr. He last competed in AAA at Worlds Collide: Los Angeles last June.
