Scarlett Bordeaux has shared new details about the creative pitch behind Killer Kross’ short-lived WWE main-roster look, revealing that Vince McMahon described the character with imagery of a “torture chamber.”
Speaking on Fightful’s In The Weeds podcast, Scarlett Bordeaux looked back on Kross’ 2021 WWE run and explained how McMahon originally proposed the character’s redesigned appearance. According to Scarlett, the concept that many fans later dubbed the “gladiator” look came directly from McMahon’s vision.
She recalled that Vince described a specific torture chamber being pulled apart and used that imagery as the inspiration for what he wanted Kross to represent on television (H/T Fightful)
“So when, like, the Gladiator S&M thing was pitched by Vince, that was basically, in a way, kind of the description of what he used, of what he wanted Kross to be, and (he) actually described like, that exact torture chamber, being pulled apart. Like, that’s what he wanted.”
Kross debuted the new gear on the August 30, 2021, edition of Monday Night Raw. The entrance featured a helmet and gladiator-style attire that immediately became a talking point among fans. The look drew widespread criticism online, with viewers comparing it to everything from a gladiator costume to adult-themed imagery.
