Scott D’Amore Says DeAngelo Williams Will Be Ready For Slammiversary
– Scott D’Amore spoke with Impact Wrestling about training NFL star DeAngelo Williams for his in-ring debut at Slammiversary. Highlights are below:
On how well Williams has adapted to the ring: “DeAngelo was the most natural athlete I have ever worked with, trained. The rate at which he consumed knowledge was unheard of. DeAngelo was so positive and upbeat (when he arrived to train); I could tell he would be a great athlete to train and work with. He showed up ready to work hard and learn.”
On if Williams will be a worthy adversary for Eli Drake and Chris Adonis: “I’m not letting the cat out of the bag, but, at Slammiversary, people are going to be amazed at DeAngelo’s wrestling ability. DeAngelo is the real deal inside the squared-circle, as Eli and Chris will find out. DeAngelo won’t just be good … he will be great. DeAngelo has potential that is nearly unmatched. The real question with DeAngelo Williams is, will he keep his promise that this is a one-time deal? If not, he just might be World Champion someday.”
On his advice to Williams’ two opponents this Sunday: “Don’t feel bad. DeAngelo has ran over a lot of people on the gridiron. Be happy that you will go down in the record books as the first two people who DeAngelo has run over in a wrestling ring.”
