Sean Waltman Recalls Getting Eyebrows Shaved As a Rib By Curt Hennig

Sean Waltman appeared on a recent episode of Six Feet Under with The Undertaker and revisited one of the best-known ribs of his early WWE run, which cost him both eyebrows and led to him getting revenge on the wrong men. Hennig was known as a ribber and Waltman reflected on the culture that made such things possible. You can check out their comments below:
On Waking Up With His Eyebrows Gone:
Waltman: “Well, you know, I thought it was Billy and Bart. It was my first road trip in California, and I ended up at Billy Gunn’s mom’s house. We all ended up at Billy Gunn’s parents’ house, and I was all excited. You know, I’m a big deal now, I’m on the road. Rounds and cigars for everybody. I’m a big shot. And I got the cigar and I put it in my mouth backwards and burned myself. I’m just a mess. I threw up in the back of the car, and I woke up and I go to the bathroom and I look in the mirror, and they’re gone. I wasn’t expecting that.”
On the Rules Of the Rib:
Waltman: “Curt’s thing was, if he did it, there’d only be one, so you’d have to shave the other one off yourself. I’ve told this story a few times, but I came in the next day or something, and I had sunglasses on. I took my glasses off and you just started dying.”
Undertaker: “That was pretty prevalent back in the day. That was a calling card. That was kind of to let you know you might need to pump the brakes a little bit.”
On Getting Revenge On the Smoking Gunns:
Waltman: “I’m not letting this go. So we had another show in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and I had Curt stop at the hardware store and I picked up some two-tube epoxy resin. Billy and Bart, they were first match or something, and they would always set their hats down right before you go out, and the hats are sitting there. So I put that epoxy resin inside the hat. They go to the ring, and all of a sudden they go to take their hats off.”
On Not Learning the Truth For 25 Years:
Waltman: “I didn’t find out it was Curt till 25 years later. Billy Gunn was on my podcast, so I brought it up, and he finally told me Curt did it. I’m like, dude, you waited — you just wouldn’t stooge him out.”
Undertaker: “What’s worse — being accused of doing it, or being a stooge?”
Waltman: “Back then, man, you get labeled a stooge, you’re done. The only thing worse than a stooge in the locker room is a thief.”
On the Locker Room Culture That Made Ribs Possible:
Undertaker: “There’s no way that we could get away with that in this day and age. It was probably a good thing, but man, if you didn’t retaliate, you felt like you had to. And if you sold it too much and complained too much about it, you’re setting yourself up. It was just a different culture.”
