Seth Rollins Is Looking Forward To Gunther vs. Nick Aldis, Reveals Surprising Age Discovery

Seth Rollins has picked one SummerSlam match that’s caught his attention, and it’s not because of a championship. Instead, he’s curious to see what Nick Aldis brings to the ring after years away from active competition.

While Aldis has built an accomplished career outside WWE, this will mark his first match as a WWE Superstar after serving as SmackDown General Manager since joining the company in 2023. His showdown with Gunther also marks his first in-ring appearance in three years. Aldis had to temporarily give up the role of GM in order to face Gunther.

Speaking on Busted Open, Rollins said the Gunther vs. Nick Aldis bout stands out because it’s the one match on the card that comes with a mystery. According to him, fans already have an idea of what to expect from many of SummerSlam’s marquee matches. Aldis, however, is a different story. (via Fightful)

“You know, I think anytime anybody’s coming off of a long hiatus and has never really laced up the boots inside a WWE ring, there’s a ton of intrigue, and so actually, the GUNTHER/Aldis match is one that kind of has my attention. The other ones, you kinda know what you’re gonna get. I don’t mean that in a bad way. You know that Hell in a Cell’s probably gonna be a war; you know what you’re gonna get with (CM) Punk and Cody (Rhodes). You’ve seen them at their peak. I think there’s the mystery of what does Nick Aldis have in the tank… “

Seth Rollins also admitted he recently learned Nick is actually younger than he is, which shocked him. Nick is 39 years old, while Seth turned 40 earlier this year.

“Now we see Aldis in the shirt every week on Friday. He looks fantastic. He looks full, the chest, he looks great, and he’s not even 40 years old. He’s still younger than I am, actually, which shocked me. I didn’t know that. Let’s see what he’s got. It’s really his WWE debut, and it’s on a massive stage, so I’m really looking forward to seeing that…”

Rollins himself prepares for a major SummerSlam weekend as he will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on Night Two.
