Former WWE executive Shane McMahon was among the attendees at last night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD), where a gunman was apprehended and taken into custody, and the sound of shots being fired was heard. McMahon was here along with his mother, former WWE President Linda McMahon, who is in President Donald Trump’s cabinet as the current United States Secretary of Education.
According to The Associated Press, a suspected armed man with guns and knives stormed the lobby outside the WHCD, where President Trump was also in attendance, on Saturday (Apr. 25) night. The gunman reportedly charged the ballroom in an encounter with Secret Service agents. Guests dived under the table when gunshots were fired.
President Trump was uninjured and rushed off the stage. Officials state that the armed suspect was a guest at the Washington Hilton, where the dinner was being held. He was taken into custody and is due in court tomorrow (April 27). Police reportedly believe the suspect opened fire and acted alone, but he did not say who his intended target was or his motive.
Axios reporter Andrew Solender shared an image of Linda McMahon being ushered out of the WHCD. Shane McMahon is also with her, following not far behind. You can view that image below.
