Sin Cara Revival Reportedly Being Pitched in WWE

A familiar face, or rather a masked one, might soon be making a comeback in WWE. PWInsider (via Fightful) reports that early pitches are being made in WWE about potentially reviving Sin Cara.

Additionally, PWInsider notes that if WWE moves forward with the idea, a new wrestler will take up the mantle of Sin Cara. Two different wrestlers previously competed under the moniker of Sin Cara in WWE.

Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde, aka Místico, portrayed the role of Sin Cara from 2011 to October 2013. Later, Cinta de Oro, who also wrestled in WWE as Hunico, became the second Sin Cara in WWE. He initially appeared as an impostor version of Sin Cara, Sin Cara Negro, back in 2011.

However, Cinta de Oro later became the official version of Sin Cara starting in 2013. He portrayed the character until December 2019, when he was released from the promotion. The wrestler voluntarily requested to be released at the time.

WWE has not yet announced a return for the wrestler. However, with WWE’s recent acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA and the surge in popularity of Mexican and luchador stars in WWE, it makes sense that the creative team would contemplate a return of the popular gimmick.
